RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Conduct scheduled water plant and pumping facility rounds, observing system operations and performing a variety of duties pertaining to water pumping and treatment activities.
Monitor plant and booster station functions by reading gauges, graphs, meter, and control panels, and by performing and evaluating chemical tests; change plant operations to adjust to changing processing needs; adjust pumps, flow valves, and feeder systems.
Collect liquid samples and perform a variety of laboratory tests; document results and take appropriate actions; enter and retrieve data in a computer; compile readings and test results into periodic reports.
Perform a variety of maintenance and repair duties related to water plant equipment and facilities, including lubricating, rebuilding, and replacing purification system parts and components.
Monitor chemical supplies and change chemical cylinders and storage drums as required.
Calculate flow rates and calibrate valves and feeder systems.
Drain and inspect plant structures; clean tanks, screens, filters, pipes, and pumps.
Coordinate activities with water testing and distribution personnel.
Answer questions and provide information to the public; respond to and resolve complaints.
Work a variety of shifts as assigned.
Basic knowledge of biology and chemistry applied to water purification.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Follow City safety procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: No experience is necessary at the Water Plant Operator level.
Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.
License or Certificates: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Wyoming Operator in Training certificate within 12 months of date of hire is required for Water Plant Operator level.

A City of Casper applicant driver information form must also be completed for this driving essential position.
The successful candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screen test.

Driving records are required for all new employees regardless of the position's driving requirements. If the employee has not held a Wyoming driver's license for the last three years, the employee must provide at their own initiation and expense a driving record from their previous state(s) of residence. |
