Platte River Revival is a cleanup, beautification and restoration event of the North Platte River.  It is a public-private partnership that will take several years to complete.  When finished, citizens will have a scenic and wonderful river to recreate around and in.  Click on the name to find out more about the event.

Great American CleanupKeep Casper Beautiful participates every year in Keep America Beautiful's Great American Cleanup, the nation's largest community improvement program!  The Great American Cleanup takes place from March 1 through May 31 and consists of several cleanup, beautification and waste reduction events.

Waste ReductionKeep Casper Beautiful is dedicated to reducing waste through recycling and reuse efforts.
    1.  Reduce- Reduce trash by purchasing more durable items.  Consider buying items in bulk or items that have less packaging.  Instead of purchasing individual servings, purchase a larger size and separate it into individual servings in reusable containers.

    2.  Reuse-Remember to donate usable items such as, furniture, clothing, house wares and electronics to a charity or second hand store before throwing them out.  One person's trash may be another one's treasure.

    3.  Recycle all items that you can.  Recycling gives items and materials that would have been trashed a second chance.  Recycling takes a used product and turns it into something new.  That can you are holding could be a new bicycle someday!  To find out about Casper's recycling program click here.

    4.  Close the Loop- By purchasing materials that are made from recycled materials or contain recycled content you are creating markets for recycled materials and helping to keep the economy of recycling alive!

For ideas on how you can implement the three "R's" in your home or at work visit www.earth911.com.  Earth911 can help you find new ways to reduce waste, reuse items and recycle.  The site even has ideas on how to save money.  From electronics trade-in programs to snagging everything you need to furnish your apartment from local reuse groups, Earth911 has it all.

BeautificationKeep America Beautiful's mission revolves around a core belief that beauty is a silent but powerful force that makes communities safer, healthier and more livable. We know that when a community and its residents unite with beautification as a common purpose, transformations occur not only in the physical surroundings, but in the hearts and minds of everyone involved.

Keep Casper Beautiful beautification efforts include:

    * Tree planting- Keep Casper Beautiful works closely with the city forester.  Trees are not only beautiful; they stabilize soil, clean our air, provide shade, and can provide habitat for animals.  But, it is important to plant the right tree in the right place. For more information on tree planting click here.

    * Flower planting- Keep Casper Beautiful works with the city parks department to plant flower in planters in parks and along streets.

    * Graffiti abatement- Graffiti hurts our neighborhoods, our schools and our whole community.  Keep Casper Beautiful is dedicated to graffiti cleanup and prevention. We have teamed with the Police Department and Code Enforcement to help Casper's citizens who have been victims of graffiti vandalism.  You can also help by volunteering to organize a graffiti paint out.
