Front Desk Volunteer

|
Do you enjoy talking with and helping people? At the front desk, volunteers assist  staff and the public from May to September. Volunteers greet visitors, ring up admissions and bookstore sales on the cash register, assist in re-stocking the bookstore, answer visitor questions regarding site history and area attractions, and answer the telephone. Staff provides training on all of these duties. We’ll work with you to schedule a shift.

Docents (School Tour Guide)

Do you enjoy working with children? We are looking for volunteers to help with the busy tour season in April and May as well as during the summer and fall. Docents at FCM lead tours of the fort buildings and guide museum gallery activities. You will receive training about site history, how to work with students and lead these tours. Docents are asked to give one tour (about 2 hours) a week during the spring or fall session or both, if you wish.

Special Events Volunteer

Are you only able to volunteer on an intermittent basis? Do you like working with the public? Then being a Special Events Volunteer may be the right fit for you. Helping with kids and family activities, lectures, or evening programs are just a few of the possible special events where we can use your help!
