Local Museums

Casper has ten local sites that serve as major regional attractions for the City.  

Fort Caspar Museum
Fort Caspar Museum is the city's primary repository of local history.  Owned and operated by the City of Casper, the museum is built on the original Fort Caspar site.   In addition to the museum itself, visitors can visit the barracks, kitchens, and other buildings of the old Fort, all restored to be much as they were in the late 19th Century.

Nicolaysen Art Museum
The Nicolaysen Art Museum is Casper's premier showcase for all forms of visual art.  The museum building is owned by the City of Casper and operated the Nicolaysen, a 501(c)(3) non-profit.  In addition to paintings and sculptures, the Nicolaysen is also renowned for attracting modern interactive and audio-visual pieces. 

Tate Geological Museum
The Tate Geological Museum explores Casper's geophysical surroundings.  Owned and operated by Casper College, the museum features explanations of Casper's mineral resources and displays of fossils and dinosaur bones that have been found throughout the area. 

National Historic Trails Interpretive Center
The National Historic Trails Interpretive Center is a federally owned and operated museum dedicated to explaining America's routes of westward migration.  The Center features artificats and interactive displays that show Casper's historic presence as an important stop on the Oregon Trail, the Gold Rush Trail, the Mormon Trail, and the Pony Express. 

Werner Wildlife Museum

The Werner Wildlife Museum displays large game animals from around the world.  The Werner Wildlife Museum is owned and operated by Casper College. 

Audubon Center at Garden Creek

Enjoy a quiet piece of serenity as you experience Wyoming's wildlife wonders! You can enjoy a walk along Garden Creek or explore the hills of the sagebrush ecosystem on the 450 acres at the base of Casper Mountain.


Historic Bishop Home

The Bishop Home was constructed in 1907 and was the first multi-story brick house built in Casper. Open for touring and events, you can step into this beautiful Four-Square Prairie Style home and learn some of Casper's most fascinating history about the life and times of one of the city's original pioneer families.


Casper Planetarium

Enjoy the stars while learning about the wonders of our universe in the newly renovated full-dome planetarium and education center.We offer a wide variety of shows that appeal to adults and children alike. Our full dome theater includes digital projection and surround sound.


The Science Zone

The Science Zone is a hands-on science center for all ages, featuring interactive exhibits that encompass a variety of scientific and mathematical concepts. children and adults will enjoy the informal environment where playful experiences lead to extraordinary discoveries!


Wyoming Veterans Memorial Museum

The Wyoming Veterans Memorial Museum is a non-typical military museum that is exclusively focused on the  intimate stories of Wyoming Veterans who have served in the Armed Forces. The museum in housed in the original Enlistedmen's Club at the Casper Army Air Base, a WWII military training site. The Veterans' stories come alive with over 20,000 artifacts: uniforms, photographs, archives, weapons and a library.
