What is “Crime Prevention?

 Crime Prevention reduces crime and victimization by empowering citizens to become less vulnerable to criminals.


The Casper Police Department’s Crime Prevention office is currently located in the City Center Building at 100 W. "B" Street, Suite 201 in the Community Risk Reduction Unit.  The office is staffed by Casper Police Officer Joe Nickerson.Crime Prevention offers a range of services free to the public, which include presentations and programs on topics that range from crime prevention, personal safety, traffic safety, and drug and alcohol recognition. Crime Prevention is also available to set up a Neighborhood Watch on your street. 


As the Crime Prevention Officer, Officer Nickerson is also involved with the following community groups, Alcohol Task Force, Meth and Substance Abuse Conference, Natrona County Prevention Coalition, Prevention Management Organization of Natrona County, Crime Stoppers of Central Wyoming, Natrona County Suicide Prevention Task Force, Child Protection Team, Safe Kids/Safe Communities, and others.


Getting In Touch with Crime Prevention 

Like most crime prevention officers throughout the country, Officer Nickerson is often out in the community doing presentations at schools, businesses, and for residential groups throughout the Casper area.   Citizens are always welcome to drop by his office at the City Center Building located at 100 W. "B" Suite 201 in the Community Risk Reduction Unit.  If he is not there at the time, he can also be contacted by email at jnickerson@cityofcasperwy.com or by calling him at 307-235-7598. All mail for the Crime Prevention Office should be sent to the Police Department main office at 201 N David.
