Yard Waste Collection

As of May 1, 2013, the City of Casper will no longer be offering the optional yard waste collection service.

Yard Waste Options
There are several ways to take care of your yard waste.

It’s okay, let it lay. Consider using a mulching mower. Mulching mowers finely chop clippings. The clippings naturally feed your lawn when they decompose. You should mow your grass to 2-3” in height and only remove about 1/3 of the blade height. This may mean you will be mulch mowing every five days. Mulching is the best way to dispose of grass clippings. You may be able to buy a kit to convert your current mower.  The CSU Extension office has accurate and great information on how to mulch mow properly.

Composting Composting is a great way to dispose of yard waste and other organic material. Composting is basically replicating and speeding up the natural decomposition process. If you choose to compost at home, you can purchase or build your own compost bin.  It does require a small amount of time and effort to be successful. The compost that you create can be used in gardens and to feed your lawn. If composting at home is not for you, consider taking yard wastes to the City of Casper Regional Solid Waste Facility compost yard for free. The facility is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Lawn ServiceSeveral lawn service companies in town offer a mulching service.  They will mulch mow your lawn for you.  Yard services also offer a bagging option and most of them take the clippings to the City of Casper Regional Solid Waste Facility.
