Casper Historic Preservation Commission marks National Historic Preservation Month

Casper, Wyoming (May 9, 2020) – The Casper Historic Preservation Commission and the Alliance for Historic Wyoming are celebrating National Historic Preservation Month with a virtual tour of Grant Street Grocery on May 12.  “The Grant Street Grocery virtual tour is one of twelve virtual tours around Wyoming,” said Jeff Bond, chairman of Casper Historic Preservation Commission.  “In light of social distancing guidelines, the Alliance for Historic Wyoming is presenting the tours from communities across our state that we can enjoy from the comfort of our own home.”  The tours are available on

The National Trust for Historic Preservation established National Preservation Week in 1973 and extended the celebration to the entire month of May in 2005.  “Historic preservation matters,” exclaimed Bond!  “We work to advance historic preservation throughout the year, and in May we showcase its importance with educational programs; architectural, archeological, and historic tours; and events to demonstrate historic preservation’s economic benefits.”  Bond went on to discuss heritage tourism and historic opportunities available in Casper.
